Texfact of the week: Vietnamese garment and textile exports grew big time

Forget the old Vietnam with its ancient weaving machines: Garment and textile exports from the country have risen by 15-16 per cent in 2014 to around US$ 25 billion. According to the Viet Nam Textile and Apparel Association, the country benefits from free trade agreements and the raise of locally made materials. “But the industry needs to improve its productivity, quality, and competitiveness with investment in new technologies, machinery, and innovation”, Nguyen Dinh Truong, deputy chairman of the association told vietnamnews.vn and textilesupdate.com.
