Glamour in Shape – feathers becoming an evening gown

A fascinating kind of dress – Sophia Loren couldn’t have worn a more elegant and glamorous one: it’s all about red feathers becoming checks becoming a long strapless evening gown, decorated by a voluminous feather boa. Jennifer Knäble, the ntv and RTL moderator, presents the latest cooperation result of Epson, Deutsches Modeinstitut (DMI), Assyst and Caddon.

Everything started with a designer’s idea – to have a feather print that looks like and awakes the same feelings as natural feathers do. First of all, the entire colours have to be scanned, visualized and communicated. This process is a very fast one, adapted to a fashion world that’s biggest requirements are innovation and speed. Afterwards, it can easily be printed directly on the textile – whatever it is – polyester, silk or cotton.

Gerd Müller-Thomkins, DMI, says: “Our focus was to save time, reduce costs and make a production in Europe possible. Within a second, these easily reproducible digital prints can be sent all over the world.” Key is the perfect visualization in 3D. Designer and producer of this wonderful evening dress is German medium sized fashion company Basler globally know for it red carpet fashion. Alexandra Reinhart, press department Basler, is more than proud on the achieved results. “Our Basler slogan “forever flowing forward” became reality – in the form of a gorgeous evening gown.
